Petrochemicals are derived from various chemical compounds, mainly from hydrocarbons. These hydrocarbons are derived from crude oil and natural gas. Among the various fractions produced by distillation of crude oil, naphtha, petroleum gases, kerosene and gas oil are the main feedstocks for petrochemical industry. Petrochemical industry plays a vital role in economic growth and development of manufacturing sector. Ethane, propane and natural gas liquids obtained from natural gas are the other important feedstock used in the Petrochemicals industry. The value addition in the petrochemicals industry is higher than most of the other industry sectors.
Some chemical compounds made from petroleum are also obtained from other fossil fuels, such as coal or natural gas, or renewable sources such as palm fruit or sugar cane, corn etc.
Polyethylene (PE) - High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)
Polyethylene (popularly called polythene) is a translucent and flexible thermoplastic resin with excellent chemical resistance. It is among the lightest plastics and is easily distinguishable from other plastics because it floats in water. It is widely used as a film by itself or applied to printing paper to provide finish, strength and moisture resistance. It is used for diverse applications such as packaging films, milk and water bottles, food containers, and children's toys.
Product Families: HDPE is suitable for many wear parts in machinery and equipment as well as a lining in material handling systems and containers. UHMW PE is self-lubricating, durable, abrasion and corrosion resistant. Applications: Milk jugs, detergent bottles, garbage containers Containers for frozen food and dairy products Warehouse pallets and crates, fuel tanks, large volume drums
